The long-awaited nutella-waffle-ice cream sandwiches finally made a guest appearance….mostly in my stomach. My friend Maya and I went on a field trip to buy ice cream and get cash for the super-sketchy shrimp truck, and we were met by two distinct comments from the shrimp mobile. One: “You brought us ice cream!? How nice!” Two: A condescending look and a, “Once on the lips, forever on the hips” comment from the cashier, who wrote down numbers by hand.
With all of the ingredients, plus some, I started toasting waffles, schmearing them with Nutella (God’s greatest gift to the world) and finished with ice cream. Next stop: the freezer.
A few hours later, ice cream sandwiches! For next time, I would make three improvements.
1 – Make homemade waffles, that are smaller and thicker.
2 – Add more Nutella. More Nutella, always.
3 – Upgrade to a more gourmet ice cream, such as Babcock or Ben & Jerry’s. Maybe use a more unique flavor, like hazelnut or Half Baked in order to accentuate the Nutella flavor.
Well, shrimp man, you were correct: once on the lips, forever on the hips. But when it tastes this good… who cares?
